The raw material of history

The raw material of history

Capital history in the news included news of Truth, Power and a Free Press, a new permanent exhibition at the Museum of Australian Democracy which documents Australia’s media history so that a conversation about media and the issues affecting our democracy can be started. I am sure this would have met with, the American historian, Henry Steel Commager’s approval:

This is what really happened, reported by a free press to a free people. It is the raw material of history; it is the story of our own times.
— Henry Steel Commager
