Firstly, we established Capital history here to help Canberra and the region’s rich history become better known and appreciated. As passionate history enthusiasts and long-term locals, we were often frustrated that Canberra was dismissed as a boring, sterile city with little to offer in terms of historical interest. This perception couldn’t be further from the truth. Canberra and its surrounds, boasts a fascinating past full of diverse stories with local, national, and international significance. Our aim is to showcase these compelling narratives and share them with the community.

Secondly, Capital history here aspires to inspire people to engage with history beyond the story of Canberra itself. We highlight significant anniversaries, acclaimed historians, thought-provoking ideas and quotes, and opportunities for everyone to dig deeper into the world of history.
